6 Iran films takes Africa route

Six Iranian films has taken the route to South Africa for a film festival.

Six Iranian films are in the running at the 38th edition of Durban International Film Festival held in South Africa.

The list includes three films competing in the Feature Film category--‘A Long Day’ by Babak Bahrambeygi and Off-Key (Nakook) by Amir Pourkian and Amir Abedi as well as ‘The Sis’ (Abji) by Marjan Ashrafizadeh and Mohammad Hossein Ghasemi.

The festival’s documentary section also hosts ‘Advantage’ by Mohammad Kart and ‘Butterfly’ (Papeli) by Mahdi Zamanpour Kiasari and Somayeh Zeraatkar. This is while ‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri competes in the short film section.

South Africa’s longest-running film festival, the Durban International Film Festival runs across 12 days at the end of July, presenting over 250 screenings of current films from around the world, with strong focus on South African and African cinema.

Screenings take place throughout Durban including township areas where cinemas are non-existent. The festival also runs extensive seminar and workshop programs to stimulate industry capacity.

The 38th edition of the South African festival currently underway is held July 13-23, 2017 in the city of Durban, South Africa.
